Our paper recommending a new genus for the rufous potoo has been accepted to the Journal of Ornithology! The rufous potoo is a standout in a family of unique birds--all which are believed to be ancient lineages. This work combined expert morphological analysis by  Thiago V. V. Costa, with the ecological and behavioural input of leading neotropical ornithologists, and finally, genetics. Say hello to Phyllaemulor bracteatus!
